Fun things:
Watch this PBS OffBook video about the importance of color in graphic design.
Everything you do is surrounded by type. It can change the way that you read, write, travel, play, and work. For this week you will research fonts/type. You will take one page of visual notes (sketchnotes) on how type changes the way we think about things. I have given you some things to watch/look at below to help you on this journey.
Bandaid Box Design
How can we design a Band-Aid box that is not only functional but also appealing and effective in promoting health and safety?

FUN THINGS:
You will make a color system that you will work with for the rest of the term.
You will choose THREE PRIMARY colors and TWO SECONDARY colors (not the color wheel primary/secondary, but regarding the level of importance).
You will submit an image:
That visualizes all of the colors
Labels all colors
Shows their HEX, PANTONE, & CMYK
Tells us how you achieved those colors, what inspired them
Bandaid Box Design (Continued)

FUN THINGS:
Look up and write instructions, with images of how to make a repeating pattern in Illustrator.
Some good places to look for help:
Logo Design for your classmate. Design a complete brand package for a classmate by researching their brand, creating logos, and presenting your work professionally.
Your VADA portfolio will be created and used for the entire time you are in VADA.
You will only be working in groups occasionally, you will mostly be working independently.
Your assignment is to illustrate an idiom. An idiom is a phrase that has a non-literal meaning. Think of "it's raining cats and dogs" or "the cat's out of the bag." You don't have to do one about cats (but you can).
This project is all about being playful, a little bit clever, and very literal.
