New Document: Make a new "Paper" size canvas and add your image of the face to Layer 1
Making it Visible: Reduce the layers opacity to 50% so that you can see what you are painting
Don't have an accident: Make sure to lock the layer so that you don't paint on it
As with any painting there are multiple colors found in the drawing of faces. There is never just one "skin tone." That is a myth made up to catagorize crayons. We are made up of thousands of different shades of browns, pinks, tans, purples, greens, blues, grays, creams, blacks, and so much more.
Because of this it is important that your image doesn't focus on just one color for the face. You must pretend to have a thousand color crayon box to chose from and discover the power of using more colors to create art.
I have zoomed in on the example below:
This may look a little like the tests that are made for color blindness and that is kinda cool. We want to look for all of the different colors that one small area of the face has in it.
If you allow yourself to see it you will find that in this small section there are hundreds of colors layered to create a single area of the skin.
Where the skin is highlighted the colors are lighter. When in shadow, darker.
Part of the challenge will be to see the variations.
